With their brand name almost synonymous with quality, and efficient technology, today we will be reviewing the Frigidaire FFRA1022R1 window air conditioner. Retailing at about $319, we took an instant liking to this product. For the price it is offered at, we believe that the consumer is certainly getting bang for their buck with this one. Cooling Performance

With an impressive 10,000 BTUs of cooling power, this window mounted air conditioner unit from Frigidaire is suitable for an estimated area of up to 452 square feet. Providing a maximum airflow of 285 cubic feet per minute, the Frigidaire FFRA1022R1 is effective at circulating air in your home, while removing up to 2.7 pints of moisture from the air, in one hour.

Efficiency / Certifications

With an impressive Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of 10.9, this unit stands proudly above the industry average of 9.7. Any air conditioner with an EER of over 10 would be considered to be very efficient.

While not Energy Star Certified, this unit does benefit from being AHAM certified and UL-Listed. This declares that the performance related specifications are accurate, and that the industry recognised experts at Underwriters Laboratories have deemed this unit safe to be safe for public use.

Efficient performance is further aided by the inclusion of 3 cooling and fan speeds. This allows the user to operate their device only to the extent required, rather than leaving it working at full strength constantly.

Convenience

Including a full-function wireless remote control with this device, Frigidaire enables the user to issue commands to their device from anywhere in the room. Further, with a built-in 24-hour programmable timer, users of this unit can input an operational schedule into this device, which will then power on or off according to the times designated by the user.

The Frigidaire FFRA1022R1 benefits from additional operational settings, including Fan Auto, and Energy Saver. Fan Auto enables the device to detect when temperatures in your home shift to uncomfortable levels, and adjust its performance accordingly in order to re-establish a comfortable environment. Energy Saver mode will maintain a comfortable temperature, all while consuming less energy. Typically this achieved through the device periodically shutting off, and powering back on if more cooling is necessary.

A built-in Sleep Mode, is also included in this unit. One of our favourite features, Sleep Mode enables the unit to save energy, and function more quietly by gradually allowing temperatures to rise. As an added bonus, this also means that you don’t have to wake up to a freezing cold house after leaving your unit on during the night.

Design

This device will function at a maximum noise level of 58.8dB, however it will be quieter when operating on lower settings (lowest setting – 55dB). When compared to the average human conversation, which registers at approximately 60dB, this unit is not very loud. That being said, the Frigidaire FFRA1022R1 is not necessarily suitable for spaces that require silence, such as nurseries, offices, etc.

Weighing 60lbs (shipping weight – 69lbs), this unit is not exactly light. We recommend that you find help when lifting / installing this device, just to be on the safe side.

8-Way directional air flow allow you to tailor where the air from your unit flows. This allows for far more even airflow coverage of your living space.

An anti-bacterial washable mesh filter allows for peace-of-mind, as you can rest assured that this unit is not allowing bacteria and airborne particulates (hair, dust) into your breathing air. However, it is vitally important that this filter is cleaned when blocked, if you want your device to continue operating efficiently.

With all the specifications of this device taken into account, we would strongly recommend this unit for installation in a medium sized living space. Like all Frigidaire products, this unit was built with the user in mind, and it shows.
