Honeywell True HEPA Air Purifier
Retailing for approximately $221.77, the Honeywell True HEPA air purifier carries a moderate price-tag, meaning it is neither cheap nor is it too expensive to be entirely written off. For a unit of this price the main aspects that you need to observe are; strength, efficiency, convenience. The strength of the unit is measurable simply by how much space it is capable of servicing. Efficiency is quite important for these middle-market units, as an efficient unit will consume less energy, and thus be cheaper to run. The convenience of a unit is when compared to strength and efficiency, probably the least important of the three criteria we have laid out. The convenience of a unit is enhanced by the inclusion of features such as auto function, or wireless remote control. Does the Honeywell True HEPA satisfy all three requirements? Continue reading below to find out.
Cleaning Capabilities
Effectively servicing an estimated area of up to 450 square feet, this purifier benefits from above-average clean air delivery rate (CADR) scores across the board. I addition to this, the Honeywell True HEPA is capable of providing 5 air exchanges each hour, which essentially means that all of the air in the room with this unit will pass through its filters once every 12 minutes.
The HEPA filter in this device is capable of catching tiny particles as small as 0.3 microns, effectively removing 99.97% of all airborne particles when air is passed through the device.
See below for more information regarding this product’s CADR specifics across a range of criteria:
- Smoke: 300
- Dust: 320
- Pollen: 300
Efficiency / Certifications
The Energy Star Certification declares that a unit performs in a manner that adheres to a strict set of regulations regarding energy consumption, as set out by the Environmental Protection Agency. To achieve this certification, a unit must be capable of performing to a higher standard of efficiency than a percentage of the market. Fortunately, the Honeywell True HEPA air purifier does carry an Energy Star certification, meaning that this unit will save you a hefty sum of cash on your energy bills.
In addition to being highly efficient, the Honeywell True HEPA air purifier is also certified by the California Air Resources Board, which essentially guarantees that a unit will not have a negative effect on the air it interacts with.
With its AHAM certified CADR scores, the Honeywell True HEPA air purifier is effective at removing smoke and dust from the air, however, unfortunately, it does struggle at removing pollen at times.
Convenience
As far as user convenience is concerned, unfortunately, the Honeywell True HEPA air purifier lacks several of the features that we would enjoy seeing in a unit of this class. Features such as sleep mode and auto functionality were unfortunately omitted from the final design of the product. However, there is a built-in operational timer included, which we found to be exceptionally useful. This enables the user to input a schedule of operation according to which the device will power on and off throughout the day. This is especially handy for those of us who find ourselves out of the house on a frequent basis.
Design
An Activated Carbon pre-filter will help to reduce common household odours, which is always immensely useful.
Weighing about 16.8lbs, this device is relatively easy to transport, allowing the user to move the product to wherever they need it to be for optimized performance.
Unfortunately, functioning at a noise level of 63dB, the Honeywell True HEPA air purifier is quite loud in comparison to some other units on the market. For reference, the average human conversation registers at approximately 60dB, meaning conversation when in close proximity to this purifier can sometimes be a struggle. We recommend placing this unit at a distance from where you would usually find yourself in the room, such as the living room sofa, for example.
Help & Support
Should you encounter an issue with this product, Honeywell representatives are contactable via telephone, email, and online “contact us” page, live chat, or through one of the company’s several social media presences. In addition to experienced representatives, Honeywell also provides their customers with access to an in-depth FAQs section, tutorial videos, a troubleshooter, and downloadable user manuals.
The crown jewel of Honeywell’s help & support services behind this product is its 5-year limited warranty coverage. For more information regarding warranty terms and conditions, we recommend that any potential buyers contact Honeywell directly.
Verdict
To conclude, our team definitely enjoyed getting their hands on this unit. Its sleek design and high-quality performance make it a definite favorite of ours. However, it must be noted that we would’ve liked to have seen more convenience related features built-into the device. However, other than the lack of a sleep mode, along with some other features, the Honeywell True HEPA air purifier is certainly effective at getting the job done.
