Electrolux PureOxygen Allergy 450 Air Purifier Review 2021
Electrolux stands as one of a brand that can be relied upon. Our team tried out the company’s PureOxygen Allergy 450. Read on to find out why our team regards this as one of the best air purifiers available in 2021.
Cooling Capacity
With upper moderate CADR scores, this purifier is relatively strong when compared to some of the other purifiers we have reviewed. We would recommend this unit for a range of approximately 450 square feet. This could be a family sitting room, or perhaps a large bedroom.
This unit benefits from a five stage filtration system. Premium HEPA filters absorb 99.97 percent of mites, allergens, pet dander, etc. An activated carbon filter reduces odor and dangerous gases. Further still, the pre-filter is coated in a layer of Cleancel – an antimicrobial coating that impedes the growth of bacteria/mold. PlasmaWave technology then breaks up any potentially harmful molecules. Most ionizers are divisive due to the amount of Ozone they release. However, PlasmaWave (which is, to our understanding, an ionizer) technology does not have this problem, and so this device has been CARB certified.
Here are the PureOxygen Allergy 450’s CADR figures:
- Smoke: 291
- Dust: 298
- Pollen 343
Efficiency & Certifications
This unit has been Energy Star Certified. This implies that the product has been assessed and has met regulations regarding energy consumption.
Air Quality and Light sensors are built-in. The Light sensor allows the unit to go into sleep mode, when lights are dimmed, assumedly saving power. On the other hand, the Air Quality sensor is designed so that the unit can measure when its services are needed, for example, if the air has a high density of pollutants.
Four fan speeds also allow the user to manually choose to what capacity they want the purifier to work.
Convenience
At 25lbs, this may be the heaviest purifier we have ever reviewed, so care should be taken when transporting. This is also probably one of the largest purifiers we have reviewed so be prepared to make space for it.
As the purifier comes with a remote, you can change between the four fan speeds from anywhere in the room.
At the highest speed, this unit can reach 59.5 dB, which is exceptionally quiet. This is essentially as loud as a quiet conversation between two people.
Design
This is a very well designed purifier, smooth lines and curves give the instant impression that this is a product that effort has been put into. It feels like a robust piece of modern technology. Our only issue with the product was the apparent lack of handles that would have made transporting the device.
Help & Support
There is only a one year warranty on this product, which is admittedly smaller less than most of the purifiers we have reviewed. However, if you do need access to the user manual, it is available on the website. There is also an FAQs section, and finally, a team of friendly professionals, who are contactable via telephone, email, or live chat.
Summary
In conclusion, this purifier is definitely a product to give a second look if you’re searching for a high quality air purifier. The Allergy 45 performs to the level that you would expect, and beyond. Everything is simply effortless with this unit, as once it is set up, the user does not need to interact with the unit much more. The only problems with this product are its size, and weight. As this is one of the largest purifiers we’ve come across, we found ourselves having to create more space for it than we expected.
