Providing the public with a seemingly endless supply of top quality products, one would assume that Friedrich has it is easy. This is not the case, as our expectations are raised when we deal with companies like Friedrich. Does the Friedrich Chill 8,000 BTU uphold the legacy of the Friedrich band? Cooling Performance

Providing 8,000 BTUs of cooling power, we would recommend the Friedrich Chill CP08G10B for installation in living spaces of up to 300 sq. ft. With a maximum airflow of 250 cubic feet per minute, this unit is capable of removing up to 2.2 pints of moisture from the air per hour.

Efficiency / Certifications

This unit comes with an Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of 12.2, which is an absolutely spectacular score, considering the industry average sits at 9.7. As such, it should come as no surprise to any of us that this unit comes Energy Star Qualified, meaning this unit adheres to strict regulations regarding energy consumption laid out by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Furthermore, three fan and cooling settings allow this unit to perform more efficiently, as the user is enabled to set their unit to a lower setting should its full power not be required.

Other certifications this unit benefits from were not available at the time of this review.

Convenience

When it comes to convenience, in our opinion, the most important feature a unit can include is the remote control. Thankfully, Friedrich agree with, as there one included with this unit. It may not seem like a significant addition, however on a sweltering day, the last thing you’re going to want to be doing is getting up and down from your chair to tweak the settings on your unit throughout the day. With  a Friedrich product, you can sit back, relax, and let the unit do the work.

Also included in this unit is a 24-hour timer, which is especially useful to those of us who spend a lot of time out of the house. With the timer, you can program what times in the day you want your unit to run for. Be it during your commute home, or any other time, you can rest assured that your unit is already freshening up your home for you.

Another addition we love about the Friedrich Chill range are the auto swing louvers. These oscillating louvers will ensure evenly distributed airflow throughout your living space, ensuring that your whole home is getting the benefit of all 8,000BTUs of cooling power.

This unit is also particularly versatile, as it can be mounted in a window, or in a ‘thru-the-wall’ configuration.

Four operational modes include Fan, Cool, Money Saver, and Dehumidifier.

Finally, an auto-restart function allows the unit to reboot itself following a power outage. This is especially useful for those of us living in areas that are prone to regular natural disasters. Once rebooted, the unit will remember its previous settings and continue operating as normal.

Design

This unit comes with a built-in Antimicrobial Lift-Out washable filter, you will be notified when the filter requires washing by the Check Filter alert. With continuous airflow, you can be guaranteed that this unit will place an even covering of coolness over your entire living space.

Weighing 63lbs, this unit falls roughly into the middle of the market if we’re simply considering weight. However, we advise our readers to seek help when lifting/transporting this device, simply as a precautionary measure. As well as this the Friedrich Chill 8,000 BTU is extraordinarily quiet during operation.

A digital thermostat makes interacting with this device all the more easier.

Verdict

In summary, we like the Friedrich Chill  8,000 BTU air conditioner. However, we would like to see more certifications attached to this device, purely for our own peace-of -mind. Other than that, this unit ticks all the boxes. With all the features we would expect of a unit of this class, this unit is fantastic mid-range window-mounted AC.
