Since 1918, Frigidaire has been manufacturing high quality HVAC products for the public market. Today we will be taking a look at the Frigidaire FAD301NWD Dehumidifier. When a brand as established and prestigious as theirs releases a new product, it is instantly subjected to a higher degree of criticism. This is in order to trial the product to see if it is up to standard with the range of appliances we have come to know and love from Frigidaire. We critically analyzed the FAD301NWD, to bring you all the relevant information. Here’s what we found.

Dehumidifying Capabilities

The Frigidaire FAD301NWD is capable of removing 30 pints of water from the air, each day. Continuous drainage is also possible in the case of this unit, to save you from regularly having to empty the water tank. If the prospect of continuous drainage sounds appealing to you, be aware you must be able to connect the unit to a drain, using a drainage hose, that does not ship with the unit. However, have no fear of the water tank overflowing, as the FAD301NWD will notify you when the tank is too full. An automatic shutdown will occur should the tank contain too much water.

Efficiency & Certifications

As is the case with most Frigidaire products, this unit is quite efficient. With an Energy Star certification, you can rest assured that your appliance is in adherence to energy consumption regulations. This means that the FAD301NWD is better for the environment and your bank account. Unlike many HVAC appliances on the market, Frigidaire has gone to lengths to see to it that this dehumidifier has all the necessary certifications to put your mind at ease. With a UL safety certification, you are guaranteed that this product is not harmful to the air you are breathing in. Furthermore, the FAD301NWD also benefits from an AHAM performance certification. This allows you peace of mind, that this appliance has been tested thoroughly.

Convenience

It should come as no surprise to those of us acquainted with Frigidaire, that they have put customer convenience first when engineering the FAD301NWD. With handles both on the top, and sides of the appliance, and caster wheels built-in, this dehumidifier can be moved about with relatively little effort. Weighing 31lbs, the unit is also quite light, should lifting be necessary at any stage.

With a front pull out the water tank, removing and replacing the container inside your unit is made as convenient as possible. The filter inside slides out from the bottom of the unit and is washable. This prevents your living space from smelling of damp, mold, or bacteria. The capacity of the container within the FAD301NWD is 12 pints, which is not the largest container we have come across in a dehumidifier unit but is still adequate.

The relative humidity range of the unit may be manually set by the user, anywhere between 35-85%, this depending on the humidity conditions of your living space. This allows for maximum comfort when you are at home.

As stated above, when the appliance is nearing a full container, Frigidaire’s Effortless™ Full Tank Alert System will let you know when it is time to empty the bucket. If this fails to catch your attention, you needn’t worry, as the Effortless™ Automatic Shut Off will step in, and power down the device when the tank is nearing capacity.

Design

Frigidaire’s SpaceWise® Portable design means that Caster wheels and top and side handles are attached to this appliance, making it much easier to move the unit around your home, comfortably. A front pull-out drawer holds the water container, which includes a carrying handle and splashes guard, to make removing water as hassle-free as possible for the user.

From an aesthetics standpoint, the Frigidaire FAD301NWD can only be described as neat. Compacted, with a modern colour palette, the white and grey finish on the outside of the appliance is neutral against any backdrop. While not exactly a head turner, lacking many of the bells and whistles of other designs on the market, this unit is nonetheless no eyesore. Strictly speaking from a visual perspective, the mechanical dial control system in the top-center appears a little dated. Furthermore, the rather large vent on the front face confuses the aesthetic design slightly, however, this may be forgiven as the larger vent means more airflow into the product, which means less water in the air, which means the air your breathe, is better for you.

Summary

In summary, it should come as no surprise that Frigidaire has brought us yet another fantastic product, befitting of the Frigidaire brand. In fact, the only criticism we could bring to the Frigidaire FAD301NWD was that its water tank could be bigger, however, this would more than likely compromise the product’s lightweight and portable design. We would have liked to see a more modern design aesthetically, however, visual appeal is nowhere near as important as performance, and this little dehumidifier performs.

All factors considered, its another win for Frigidaire, with another high above average product introduced to the market.
